RSLite
RSLite is a mobile application for Android and iOS that provides continuous vehicle tracking integrated with the RallySafe Race Control rally management platform for display on the Race Control map. It is a lightweight alternative to fitting a RallySafe unit in a couple of key scenarios.
Recce
In Recce mode, RSLite monitors speeding while on stage and reports speeding infringements to Race Control. Built-in tamper detection indicates when attempts are made to circumvent speeding detection while tracking on stage. Additionally, RSLite in Recce mode has the following features:
- A current speed and speed limit indicator
- Two trip meters that can be reset at any time
- Race officials can send messages directly to the competitor and request an acknowledgement or yes/no response
Competition
In Competition mode, as well as continuous vehicle position updates to Race Control, RSLite has the following features:
- A current speed indicator
- OK/SOS buttons to transmit vehicle status to Race Control with additional Fire/Medical requests
- When a stage is red flagged, competitors on stage are notified and an acknowledgement is requested
- Race officials can send messages directly to the competitor and request an acknowledgement or yes/no response
Considerations
RSLite runs on a wide variety of mobile phones that offer different GPS and network capabilities. Because of this, there are some things to consider:
- A GPS-based trip meter does not offer the same accuracy as a wheel tick or wheel speed sensor.
- A loss of network coverage means that position updates, speeding infringements, and communications may be delayed between the competitor and Race Control. Delayed messages are automatically sent when network coverage resumes, and RSLite has an indicator showing whether there is current contact with Race Control.
- RSLite only sends tracking information to Race Control when it is open. It does not do any background recording of location. The competitor is in control of when the application is tracking at all times.
